Job description
Job Overview
As a General Foreperson at Farrans Construction, you will oversee diverse workstreams aligned with the company’s approaches in logistics, production, design, assembly, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality), reporting, and digital content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate a segment of work within a larger project, manage medium-sized projects entirely, or supervise several smaller projects.
- Maintain clear communication across all operational teams, including suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, safety, environmental staff, and client representatives.
- Lead and enhance team capabilities to meet project requirements, identifying training needs, assessing workforce performance, and conducting briefings.
- Plan, monitor, and control labor, plant equipment, and materials to adhere to the project schedule.
- Supervise both subcontractors and direct employees on site.
- Uphold high-quality standards on-site to meet specifications the first time and reduce rework.
- Support the engineering team in preparing method statements and scheduling.
- Ensure up-to-date, clear allocation documentation is maintained and shared with engineering and commercial teams at shift closures.
- Keep all required records, such as inspections, work permits, and briefings, current and accessible.
- Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and execute actions resulting from these inspections.
- Maintain an accurate daily site diary documenting changes, subcontractors’ attendance, and communications with clients, designers, resident engineers, and project teams.
- Perform other duties as needed to fulfill the role effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possession of a CSCS gold card is mandatory; SSSTS certification is preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with experience delivering significant projects, including water infrastructure or extensive linear projects.
- Expertise in managing multi-contractor and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve shared objectives to exceptional standards.
- Strong stakeholder management skills using an adaptable and personable style to engage all relevant parties.
- Adept at reviewing information and consulting stakeholders to make flexible, informed decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets effectively with sound program development, risk management, and innovation application.
- Experience handling relationships with customers, clients, site operators, landowners, and utility providers.
