About the Role

Mitre 10 MEGA Invercargill is seeking motivated Garden Team Members for fixed-term positions to support our busiest seasons, spring and summer. These roles provide opportunities to work outdoors in a vibrant retail environment dedicated to exceptional customer service and community value. Various positions are available across different schedules from September 2026 through to March or Easter 2027 depending on the role.

Available Roles and Schedules

  • Garden Dirt Fill Team Member: September 2026 - Easter 2027, 20 hours weekly, Fridays to Mondays, 7:00am - 12:00pm. Responsibilities include keeping soil, compost, and garden products well stocked and accessible.
  • Garden Watering Team Member: September 2026 - March 2027, 6 hours weekly, Sundays and Mondays, 7:00am - 10:00am. Focus on plant maintenance through regular watering.
  • Garden Green Team Member (Weekends): September 2026 - March 2027, 18 hours weekly, Saturdays and Sundays, 8:30am - 6:00pm. Role involves providing expert advice and excellent customer service in the outdoor garden area.
  • Garden Inbound Stock Team Member (Afternoons): September 2026 - March 2027, 16 hours weekly, Wednesday to Saturday, 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Duties include receiving and unloading plant deliveries.
  • Garden Inbound Stock Team Member (Mornings): September 2026 - March 2027, 16 hours weekly, Wednesday to Saturday, 10:00am - 2:00pm. Similar duties to afternoon team member focused on receiving plant deliveries.
  • Garden Department Team Member: October 2026 - March 2027, 40 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Assisting customers across all areas of the garden department.

  • Support customers by helping them select appropriate gardening products and solutions.
  • Maintain attractive and well-stocked garden display areas.
  • Water, nurture, and care for plants continuously.
  • Work collaboratively to keep the department orderly and appealing.

  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service experiences.
  • Possess a positive mindset with strong team collaboration skills.
  • Motivated to learn and take pride in their contribution.
  • Excellent verbal communication abilities.
  • Physically capable of performing manual tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic retail setting.
  • A keen interest or knowledge in gardening is highly valued.
