Job Overview

The Macraes Open Pit operation seeks a Field Technician Supervisor to guide Field Technician teams in safely and efficiently executing grade control and ore mining tasks. The role oversees ore definition and maintains grade protection through sound grade control practices, ensuring mining objectives are met without compromising ore quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee grade control drilling and sample gathering operations to ensure quality and adherence to mining plans.
  • Lead and manage the Field Technician workforce in the field, ensuring compliance with operational plans and quality benchmarks.
  • Effectively communicate identified risks or opportunities to geologists and the Geology Superintendent.
  • Ensure all Field Technicians are properly trained to required standards with accurate training records maintained.
  • Provide leadership and mentor staff, fostering a culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Participate in pre-shift and toolbox safety meetings, enforcing correct personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and upholding high health and safety standards.
  • Conduct Stop-Think reviews and Job Safety Analyses for tasks, plus reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participate in their development or revision as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a valid, clean, full driver’s license with confidence in operating manual vehicles.
  • Minimum six years of experience working within a mining environment, specifically in Grade Control drilling and sampling.
  • Supervisory experience in the mining sector is highly desirable.
  • A degree in earth sciences is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Project management certifications are advantageous.
