Role overview

New Energy is looking for a commercially aware Estimator to join its expanding Taranaki team, supporting both the Drillco and New Energy brands. This permanent full-time position runs for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and offers the chance to work across construction, drilling, and renewable energy projects.

The role suits someone who enjoys working with figures, building strong working relationships, and contributing to the delivery of successful projects. You will partner closely with the Lead Estimator and Operations team to prepare quotations, assist with tender work, source supplier pricing, manage customer communication, and help identify opportunities that support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pricing proposals and quotation documents
• Review project scopes and understand customer expectations
• Collect pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Assist with tender preparation and submission work
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Follow up on quotations and keep communication active throughout the pricing process
• Meet customers and industry contacts to build relationships and learn about future opportunities
• Promote Drillco’s services and capabilities in the market
• Keep estimating records and pricing databases accurate and up to date
• Support project handover activities for the Operations team
• Contribute to both the Drillco and New Energy businesses

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone with experience in estimating, quoting, project coordination, construction administration, procurement, or a comparable role. A strong grasp of numbers and analysis is important, along with clear communication and the ability to build relationships effectively. You should be comfortable speaking with customers and presenting the business professionally.

Confidence using Microsoft Excel and Word is expected, and a proactive mindset with a willingness to learn will be highly valued. Experience in construction, civil works, drilling, infrastructure, or renewable energy will be an advantage. The role also requires a willingness to travel when needed for customer engagement and business development.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Taranaki. The successful candidate must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and be able to meet the requirements of the company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.
