Position Overview

The Estimator role, reporting directly to the Manager of Estimating, is based in Albany, GA, or Mansfield, MA, and involves full-time hybrid work. This position plays a critical role in preparing detailed estimates and bid proposals for foodservice equipment projects within the construction industry to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bid packages by requesting, reviewing, and initiating estimates for foodservice equipment proposals.
  • Develop detailed and precise bid proposals, collaborating to evaluate opportunities aligned with company capabilities.
  • Analyze drawings and construction documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates covering time, cost, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Engage vendors and subcontractors by soliciting and evaluating pricing for accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Follow up promptly on submitted bids to improve success rates.
  • Review contracts upon award to coordinate scope and schedules with project stakeholders.
  • Assist in negotiating favorable vendor terms and pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Address queries to ensure estimate and proposal precision.
  • Maintain a supplier directory to streamline bidding processes.
  • Contribute to organizational growth by increasing bid win rates, revenue, and project gross profits.
  • Foster business development by developing connections with General Contractors, Consultants, and Architects.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective time management with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; knowledge of Bluebeam, Unifier, and JD Edwards is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of general construction disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Familiarity with construction specification documents and related processes such as submittals, RFIs, RFPs, and addendums.
  • Competency in reading architectural drawings and specifications.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in Project Management or Estimating within construction, or equivalent military/practical experience.
  • Preferred 1 to 2 years of direct experience in Project Management or Estimating.
  • Experience in the foodservice industry is a plus.
  • Must complete CFSP certification test within three years of employment.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety & Health Certification preferred.
  • Successful completion of a background check after offer acceptance required.
