Role Overview

We are looking for an Operations Officer to join the Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) based in Munich, Germany. The role focuses on assessing and responding to threats, incidents, and crises, working closely with the Intelligence team to ensure a coordinated approach. It requires initial onsite presence in Munich, with potential flexibility over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement initial responses to threats and incidents such as containment, escalation, coordination with local staff, and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
  • Monitor various security and operational platforms including travel security systems, mass notification tools, and incident management applications; respond in line with standard procedures.
  • Accurately document activities, incidents, outcomes, and decisions, adhering to governance and reporting standards.
  • Communicate clear situational updates to internal stakeholders and the Operational Lead during events and heightened threat periods.
  • Verify security status and collaborate with local management to identify issues and assist in their resolution.
  • Help design and implement protective strategies for executive travel, high-profile occasions, and special operations using intelligence and operational data.
  • Sustain continuous coordination with the GSOC Intelligence Team to inform operational decisions with timely intelligence.
  • Assist the Operational Lead in liaising with internal units and external partners like law enforcement and emergency services during operations.
  • Contribute to post-incident reports, lessons learned, and enhancement of procedures and response protocols.
  • Engage actively in drills, training, and readiness exercises to maintain and improve GSOC capabilities.
  • Manage sensitive information conscientiously, ensuring compliance with data protection and operational security standards.
  • Proactively coordinate with relevant stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, emergency management, or similar, or equivalent experience in security operations, law enforcement, military, or related fields.
  • Two to five years’ experience in physical security operations, incident response, control rooms, or 24/7 operational environments.
  • Strong analytical, observational, and reporting capabilities; able to process information swiftly and respond decisively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of security technologies including mass notification and travel security platforms.
  • Understanding of hybrid threat scenarios spanning physical, cyber, and reputational risks in multinational contexts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging stakeholders in routine and crisis situations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, duty-based setting managing multiple responsibilities reliably.
  • Experienced in handling confidential data with integrity and discretion.
  • Fluent in English, with additional regional languages preferred; German fluency is advantageous.
