About the Role
ANZ seeks an Economist based in Singapore to contribute high-quality macroeconomic research and forecasting focused on the ASEAN and South Korean economies. Reporting to the Head of Asia Research, this position supports the bank's commercial goals by publishing timely insights, bolstering institutional client relations, and enhancing ANZ Research’s regional influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously update macroeconomic forecasts for designated economies.
- Create differentiated, commercially applicable research delivering valuable insights to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent ANZ through client meetings, market engagements, and media interactions.
- Collaborate with policymakers, central banks, government bodies, and market players to enrich market intelligence and elevate the caliber of economic analyses.
- Contribute to regional and global research initiatives alongside the broader research team.
- Ensure analytical rigor, data accuracy, and regulatory adherence in all published research and communications.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as an economist or strategist within finance or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of Asia’s economic frameworks and drivers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of central bank operations and policy processes, including their economic impacts.
- Effective communication skills for conveying complex economic ideas clearly to varied audiences.
- Proficient in data analysis and economic forecasting.
- Collaborative approach with a capability to work efficiently across regional and global teams.
- Self-motivated, exercising sound judgment while managing multiple priorities.
- While direct financial market experience is optional, a strong interest in markets is vital.
- Valued skills include quantitative/statistical analysis, programming, and proficiency with Macrobond and Bloomberg.
- Mandarin language ability is an advantage.
