We are a British heritage brand specializing in leather goods and accessories, founded 45 years ago. Our operations include design, manufacturing, wholesale, and retail. Our creative headquarters are located in converted stables amidst Hertfordshire parkland, with our distribution center situated 10 minutes away in Hemel Hempstead.
Role Overview
This position is responsible for the daily commercial performance of our ecommerce website. The Ecommerce Manager is accountable for trading results, conversion rates, product outcomes, and the implementation of on-site strategies. The role demands active involvement in trading, continuous optimization, and translating insights into increased revenue and profitability, not merely maintaining or reporting site activity.
Work Environment and Schedule
Based at our Great Gaddesden stables, the team fosters a collaborative and familial working atmosphere. The workweek is Monday through Friday, comprising 37.5 hours or as necessary for this senior role. The role reports to the Head of Ecommerce & Technology.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 4-5 years of experience using ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Centra, and tools like AB Tasty, Nosto, Depict for CRO and merchandising.
- Demonstrate commercial acuity with comfort in managing revenue and conversion targets.
- Analytical mindset focused on actionable insights to drive business outcomes.
- Strong commitment to enhancing the customer journey and minimizing friction in the buying funnel.
- Data-driven decision-making skills combined with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Organizational skills with a focus on prioritizing impactful activities.
- Collaborative orientation with confidence in cross-functional teamwork and challenging when necessary.
- Experience handling large datasets and performance reports adeptly.
- Proven background managing ecommerce sites end-to-end in full-price retail, fashion, or lifestyle sectors.

Key Responsibilities
Trading & Performance Management
- Lead daily, weekly, and monthly ecommerce trading performance metrics.
- Manage key indicators such as revenue, conversion rate, average order value, return rate, and profit margins.
- Oversee ecommerce trading calendar, including product launches, promotions, and peak activity periods.
- Align site trading with inventory availability, margin objectives, and commercial priorities.
- Quickly identify performance issues and implement corrective measures.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
- Develop and execute the CRO roadmap.
- Analyze user funnels, drop-off points, purchase paths, and device-related performance.
- Prioritize CRO opportunities across product listing pages, product detail pages, navigation, checkout, and content.
- Collaborate with technology and UX partners to scope, prioritize, and roll out tests and enhancements.
- Monitor test outcomes, quantify their impact, and integrate insights into continuous optimization efforts.
Product Merchandising & On-Site Execution
- Manage product merchandising rules, sorting logic, and promotional applications.
- Ensure accurate and consistent product data concerning pricing, promotions, attributes, and availability.
- Analyze product and category performance, including full-price versus off-price balance, sell-through rates, and returns.
- Leverage insights to guide product positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional planning.
- Maintain commercial alignment of the website beyond mere visual appeal.
Data Analysis, Reporting, and Insights
- Track website performance metrics and customer behaviors closely.
- Produce clear, actionable insights spanning channels, products, and customer demographics.
- Maintain accurate and relevant ecommerce dashboards and reports.
- Create weekly performance summaries that outline successes, issues, and responsive actions.
- Support financial forecasting, strategic planning, and post-event reviews with reliable data analysis.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Serve as the primary ecommerce performance advocate within the organization.
- Work in close partnership with Merchandising, Marketing, and Technology teams.
- Ensure ecommerce objectives are clearly communicated and aligned across functions.
- Contribute insights for campaign planning, launches, and subsequent evaluations.
Success Indicators
Achievements will be evidenced by consistent enhancement of funnel metrics leading to significant increases in conversion rates, revenue per session, and profitable growth through disciplined trading and CRO execution.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Conversion rate throughout the entire purchasing journey.
- Performance metrics related to product sales, including nuances between full-price and off-price items, and Men’s category variations.
- Revenue targets compared against forecasts.
- Execution of the trading calendar.
