About The Production Factory
The Production Factory is a global production agency specializing in stills and film, creating high-end visual content for top-tier fashion, luxury, beauty, lifestyle, and culture brands worldwide. We oversee the entire production workflow, from ideation and execution to post-production, ensuring elevated and impactful imagery and videos across print, digital, social, and broadcast platforms. Operating from multiple offices including London, New York, Miami, Mallorca, and Manchester, our global presence enables us to deliver world-class production services aligned with cultural hubs.
Role Overview
We seek a highly organized and creative Studio Manager to direct e-commerce studio operations for the George at Asda account. This critical role involves overseeing the delivery of high-volume, on-brand imagery that enhances conversion rates and supports George's digital content channels. The ideal candidate will guide the production of premium content with strong expertise across photography and post-production disciplines.
Reporting to the Head of Production, the Studio Manager will manage studio workflows from shoot planning and scheduling through final asset delivery. They will lead a dedicated team of photographers, stylists, retouchers, and copywriters while ensuring the studio operates efficiently and aligns with brand standards. This is an onsite role requiring presence five days a week in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily studio operations, ensuring shoots are executed on schedule, within budget, and meet brand quality standards.
- Develop and refine studio workflows, standard operating procedures, and scheduling systems.
- Manage resource and capacity planning across all studio components.
- Supervise a multidisciplinary studio team including photographers, stylists, hair & makeup artists, retouchers, and copywriters.
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing studio environment.
- Handle all studio administration, including product logistics, client communications, vendor management, and facility upkeep.
- Lead pre-production activities such as briefing, call sheet creation, and shoot scheduling for all e-commerce and social content.
- Ensure technical compliance of imagery with website, mobile, and third-party platform requirements.
- Collaborate closely with clients and creative teams to set schedules and assure timely content delivery.
- Manage the variable studio budget by tracking expenditures, forecasting, processing invoices, and conducting budget reviews with the Head of Production.
- Negotiate competitive rates with freelancers, agencies, and suppliers to maximize value.
- Generate regular reports on productivity, studio output, and asset delivery metrics.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with Lead Retoucher to monitor post-production workflows, ensuring retouched images meet high standards and client feedback is integrated promptly.
- Enforce brand guidelines across all product imagery and manage client feedback.
- Oversee digital asset and workflow management systems, ensuring proper asset naming, tagging, and distribution to stakeholders.
- Support photography team in set preparation, lighting, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with Lead Sample Manager on garment tracking and returns in conjunction with merchandising and warehouse teams.
- Work alongside Head of Production on the George account to develop efficient systems, optimize performance, and improve studio processes.
- Design and establish new e-commerce photography workflows to enhance service levels and productivity, including model and still life shoots.
- Provide seamless support services to photo studio professionals to guarantee brief accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Communicate progress and challenges effectively to the team, offering solutions and clear guidance.
- Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement operational improvements to boost quality and throughput.
- Create weekly productivity and sample reports.
- Participate in recruiting freelance and permanent staff.
- Act as a liaison between the e-commerce studio and other business units, fostering collaborative relationships.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their photography needs and requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience managing e-commerce studios, preferably within fashion retail.
- Proven ability managing high-volume e-commerce photo shoots and leading studio teams.
- Experience establishing new e-commerce studios and introducing effective workflows is advantageous.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills capable of juggling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact across creative, commercial, and operational teams.
- Ability to handle heavy workloads under pressure through prioritization and forward planning.
- Familiarity with sample management systems, digital asset management platforms, and scheduling tools.
