Role Overview

Join our team at the Saraji open cut coal mine, situated close to Dysart in Central Queensland, Australia. The mine boasts substantial coal reserves of 648 million tonnes of coking coal, ranking among Asia's and the world's largest. Coal from Saraji is exported globally to steel producers across India, the Americas, Europe, East Asia, and South Asia.

We are recruiting Dragline Operators to operate on a 3D3N6X roster (6 days on, 6 days off). This role places you within the Production team to help meet safe production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commit firmly to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
  • Work according to a 6 days on, 6 days off (3D3N6X) shift pattern.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order and mine procedures are consistently followed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve safety and production targets.

Candidate Profile

  • Must have minimum 2 years of experience operating draglines, preferably in open-cut mining.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet production objectives.
  • Hold current RII Competencies for Dragline and Dozer operation.
  • Possess a minimum 'C' Class Driver’s license.
  • Additional useful competencies include operating D10/D11 dozers and graders.
  • Experience with support equipment such as cable reelers, cable tractors, and graders is advantageous.

Recruitment Process

BHP’s recruitment will involve checks such as criminal background, medical and drug screening, right-to-work verification, and reference confirmations to ensure alignment with company standards and role requirements.

Successful candidates must complete a legislated Queensland coal mine workers’ health evaluation via the mandated ResHealth online system.
