Overview
The Director of People Rewards is responsible for spearheading the comprehensive strategy, governance, and operational execution of compensation, performance management, incentives, executive remuneration, workforce cost control, job architecture, and HR policy governance across the organization.
Serving as a strategic consultant to senior leadership, this role ensures that compensation and performance frameworks enhance organizational results, nurture innovation and collaboration, drive transformation, and remain in harmony with business goals and compliance standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Crafting and updating the compensation philosophy and rewards strategy aligning with business needs and staff priorities.
- Creating and managing enterprise-wide salary structures, remuneration policies, and compensation frameworks.
- Regularly benchmarking market data to maintain competitiveness and fairness internally.
- Advising leadership on market trends, labor conditions, and workforce impact.
- Designing reward solutions to boost talent acquisition, retention, and transformation efforts.
- Leading the design and ongoing enhancement of the performance management framework encouraging accountability and desired leadership behaviors.
- Overseeing organization-wide performance assessments, talent calibrations, and governance procedures.
- Managing incentive frameworks, including scorecards, target setting, performance measurement, and payouts ensuring governance and alignment with organizational outcomes in partnership with business and finance leads.
- Administering senior management remuneration programs including executive compensation structures, benchmarking, financial modelling, and presenting recommendations to the Board and committees.
- Directing staff cost planning, forecasting, budgeting, and collaborating with finance and business stakeholders on workforce investment strategies.
- Leading governance and continuity of job evaluation philosophies, grading structures, and career frameworks to ensure consistency and rigor.
- Driving digital transformation of rewards and performance processes through technology adoption, data analytics, AI, and automation to improve efficiency, governance, employee engagement, and decision-making.
- Building dashboards and predictive analytics to deliver actionable insights to management.
- Maintaining strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and managing external vendors and consultants related to rewards projects.
- Leading and mentoring a high-performing rewards team fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision making.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Accountancy, or a similar field.
- Minimum 15 years of advancing HR experience strongly focused on compensation, performance management, incentives, and policy development.
- At least 10 years of people leadership experience.
- Proven expertise in managing enterprise-wide reward and performance frameworks in complex organizations.
- Experienced in managing senior management remuneration and Board-level interactions.
- Skilled in workforce cost planning, financial modeling, and job evaluation processes.
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of compensation strategy, incentive design, and performance management principles.
- Thorough knowledge of executive remuneration governance and employment legislation.
- Expertise in job evaluation methodologies and grading systems.
- Strong strategic thinking paired with commercial and organizational insight.
- Exceptional numerical aptitude and ability to leverage analytics to guide decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with capability to influence senior and board-level stakeholders.
- Proven ability to combine strategic vision with operational delivery and effective program management.
- Demonstrated abilities in team leadership, coaching, and performance development.
