Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee design outcomes on premier high-rise residential projects in Sydney. This role involves managing the entire design process and documentation to deliver optimal results aligned with contract briefs, budgets, and construction timelines. The position requires active collaboration with clients, consultants, and stakeholders from project inception through to construction completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process from tender phase through to construction completion.
- Oversee consultant engagement by defining scopes of work and monitoring their performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
- Drive the creation of the Design Management Plan and coordinate approval processes including Development Approvals and Construction Certificates.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to establish project specifications and resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure timely completion of detailed design and documentation according to project schedules.
- Provide cost management inputs in partnership with Estimating and Commercial departments.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven expertise as a Design Manager or Senior Project Engineer on large-scale high-rise residential developments with Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction companies.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design, documentation, and statutory approval processes specific to high-rise residential buildings.
- Experience managing consultant teams and design timelines for projects valued above $20 million.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost planning and value management skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation abilities.
