Job description
Position Overview
Koforidua Technical University is inviting applications from motivated and experienced professionals for the role of Deputy Internal Auditor. This position involves overseeing all auditing activities alongside management and administrative duties within the university's framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Audit to manage the Audit Office in accordance with the Technical Universities Act 2016 (Act 922) and relevant financial and auditing legislation.
- Manage and supervise all financial transactions and accounting records ensuring adherence to accounting principles and government regulations.
- Examine monthly and annual financial statements to verify accuracy and compliance standards.
- Ensure timely and proper fiscal reporting procedures are followed.
- Take charge of preparing operating budgets, oversee long-term financial planning, and coordinate the university’s annual audit process.
- Support budget analyses for review by senior audit management.
- Lead and manage Audit Directorate personnel, delivering direction and oversight.
- Create, enforce, and update auditing and administrative policies across the university.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a research-based Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Be a Chartered Accountant registered with reputable professional bodies such as ACCA, ICA, or CPA.
- Possess a minimum of six years’ experience as a Senior Internal Auditor in a university setting, industry, or public practice, including six years of management responsibility.
- Submit scholarly work, including position papers, reports, or memoranda for assessment by two external evaluators.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with auditing/accounting software.
Additional Competencies
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and results-driven mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with expertise in accounting and auditing tools.
- Capable of managing pressure and meeting deadlines efficiently.
Membership in CISA is considered an asset.
Location
The position is based in Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana.
