Data Scientist - Remote Malaysia (m/f/d) - Sydney Team

About The Role

We are seeking an independent Data Scientist based in Malaysia to bridge advanced predictive analytics with top-tier engineering for our regional operations. This position involves more than routine scripting; you will be responsible for driving the local development of our product by ensuring that our AI-based decision engines are mathematically rigorous, highly efficient, and robust in engineering. You will operate remotely from Malaysia, supporting clients located in Sydney.

Collaborating closely with our primary engineering team in Berlin, your key role will be to transform complex retail challenges into scalable and reliable software solutions, which directly influence our client’s operations. As the dedicated data science expert for the Sydney region, you will underpin 7Learnings’ local impact by harmonizing sophisticated algorithms with stable software implementations. You will maintain impeccable technical standards, minimize technical debt, and uphold superior model precision.

Responsibilities

• Utilize your analytical expertise to drive optimization projects in retail environments.
• Develop and experiment with machine learning models to accurately predict sales volumes and associated costs.
• Engage actively with retail customers to iteratively enhance the 7Learnings software solution.
• Work hand-in-hand with the engineering team to align data science outputs with software development.
• Refine and improve data pipelines and predictive modeling codebases for peak performance.
• Assist in ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and investigation of large datasets to support decision-making.

Profile and Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in fields such as Business Administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated results-driven and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
• Proven practical experience in machine learning and data science projects.
• Familiarity with tools and platforms including Git, TensorFlow, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, and BigQuery.
• Professional proficiency in English, equivalent to at least C1 level.
• Currently residing in Malaysia.
