Data Scientist - International Logistics

About the Team

The Analytics group drives data-informed decisions and strategies across DoorDash's global logistics platform expansion. Our Data Scientists extract key insights from complex data to guide enterprise-wide choices, playing an essential role across operations.

Role Overview

This position involves deep data exploration to tackle fundamental business challenges. You will create and run experiments, collaborate cross-functionally, and implement data-backed operational improvements. Beyond just deploying machine learning models, this role centers on actionable, practical analytics impacting real-world outcomes across the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with product, finance, business, and executive teams to inform their strategic decisions.
• Employ quantitative methods and data visualization to decipher business drivers.
• Develop end-to-end analytics experiments, dashboards, and reports using tools like SQL, Python, and R.
• Conduct statistical analyses and hypothesis testing to validate findings and offer informed recommendations.
• Deliver insights on marketplace dynamics, user behaviors, and long-term trends to cross-functional teams.
• Identify pivotal metrics and levers to guide business improvements.
• Manage stakeholders effectively and collaborate across multiple functions to prioritize initiatives.
• Be willing and able to travel for collaboration with market teams and business partners.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 3 years experience in analytics, consulting, or a related data-driven role.
• Ability to structure ambiguous problems with hypothesis-driven and data-supported approaches.
• Proven capacity to lead strategic projects to successful conclusion working with diverse teams.
• Familiarity with experimental design including A/B testing and causal inference methodologies.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Advanced skills in SQL and ETL processes.
• Experience with analytics and data visualization tools.
• Practical experience creating and training statistical and machine learning models including classifiers and regressions.

Compensation and Benefits

Salaries vary regionally and are determined by skills, experience, and location, with the range for this role in British Columbia as follows:

• Level I4: CAD 114000 to 142500 per year
• Level I5: CAD 142000 to 177500 per year
• Level I6: CAD 176000 to 220000 per year

In addition to base salary, equity grants are available.
