Data Engineer, BI & Reporting

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer specializing in BI and Reporting to manage and expand the analytics and reporting infrastructure crucial for operational, revenue, customer, and executive decision-making. This hybrid role combines analytics engineering and BI engineering tasks, focusing on data modeling, workflow automation, and AI-assisted reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable SQL and dbt models, data marts, semantic layers, and reporting datasets to support business teams.
• Organize and document complex data systems ensuring clean and structured data foundations.
• Develop and govern consistent business metrics, improving data quality and reporting standards.
• Manage production dashboards, KPI reports, and recurring reporting workflows to ensure accuracy and usability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs and establish clear reporting requirements.
• Automate reporting workflows and support AI-driven QA, data quality monitoring, and KPI generation.
• Implement data validation, alerting, monitoring, and troubleshoot discrepancies to enhance trust in reporting systems.

Candidate Profile

• 3 to 6 years' experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, reporting engineering, or related data analytics and modeling roles.
• Proficient in advanced SQL and experienced in dbt for building transformation pipelines and analytic layers.
• Skilled in creating and maintaining SQL tables, data marts, semantic layers, and production-level dashboards.
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Sigma, Hex, or Mode.
• Demonstrated ability to perform data QA, monitoring, reporting automation, with strong documentation and quality assurance practices.
• Independent ownership of reporting infrastructure and workflow automation.

Bonus Skills

• Experience working in fintech, payments, or B2B SaaS industries.
• Knowledge of HubSpot and CRM data, revenue operations, customer success data, or transaction/payment data.
• Expertise in KPI governance, metric definition, and data freshness monitoring with alerting systems.
• Familiarity with AI tools and workflow automation platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, n8n, AI agents, reporting bots, dashboard QA agents, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience transforming manual reporting tasks into automated processes.
