Data Analyst

About the Role

Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is recruiting Junior to Mid-Level Data Analysts to assist in a federal project aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence readiness nationwide. These positions depend on contract award and successful subcontract negotiation.

Working closely with the AST Project Manager, prime contractor, partners, and the client, the Data Analysts will drive program efforts through data collection, performance reporting, facilitating technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, and operational assessments to support a national AI readiness initiative.

The role is remote, with occasional travel across the U.S. for meetings, workshops, and annual events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to AST's responsibilities across several project streams.
• Gather, analyze, and report data to monitor program performance and aid decision-making.
• Create and maintain milestone tracking, KPIs, executive dashboards, and routine reports.
• Assist with technical assistance initiatives, Coordination Hub activities, and Communities of Practice.
• Support stakeholder engagement including workshops, webinars, technical discussions, and collaborative sessions.
• Perform operational analyses to uncover trends, risks, gaps, and areas for ongoing improvement.
• Prepare reports, presentations, briefings, and essential project documentation.
• Manage project records, shared resources, and knowledge management systems.
• Coordinate tasks with team members to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met on time.
• Support quality assurance for project reports, data products, and documentation.
• Undertake additional tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fields such as business, public administration, public policy, engineering, computer science, IT, data analytics, statistics, economics, or social sciences.
• Between two to five years' experience supporting federal, state, academia, nonprofit, or industry projects.
• Proven history of collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for program management.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience producing reports, presentations, and professional documentation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting project milestones.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 apps including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with federal contracts or federally funded research and innovation projects.
• Expertise in performance management, KPI creation, program reporting, or operational analytics.
• Background supporting technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, Communities of Practice, or similar collaborative efforts.
• Skills in dashboard development or using data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience related to AI, advanced technologies, workforce development, regional innovation, economic growth, or tech commercialization.
• Knowledge of data management, knowledge management, or continuous improvement approaches.

Additional Information

• The role is contingent on contract award and subcontract finalization.
• Employment is anticipated to commence following contract award and subcontract execution.
• Multiple openings may be available depending on funding and project demand.
• Salary range offered for full-time employment is $75,000 to $90,000 annually.
• Compensation is influenced by experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, education, and contract labor categories.
