Crossing Guard

Overview

The Crossing Guard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of pedestrians, particularly school children, by facilitating safe crossing at designated locations. This includes monitoring traffic gaps and signaling when it is appropriate for pedestrians to cross streets or intersections by stopping vehicular traffic.

Responsibilities

• Assist pedestrians, including children, in crossing roadways and intersections safely by halting vehicle movement at specific points.
• Observe traffic flow and lead children across streets while displaying a "stop" sign to approaching drivers.
• Provide guidance to children on safe pedestrian practices.
• Report any concerns or incidents encountered during duty to the supervisor.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Education and Experience

Candidates should have at least partial secondary school education. Experience up to one month in areas such as customer service or working/volunteering with groups is preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Work hours typically require two shifts on weekdays: around one hour in the morning between 8:00 am and 9:30 am, and one hour in the afternoon from 2:45 pm to 4:00 pm.
• Reliable transportation is necessary to reach various crossing points across the city.
• Candidates must be willing to undergo a medical examination to confirm fitness for the role.
• Submission of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at the candidate's own cost is required prior to employment.
