About the Role

The Credit Underwriter II at Prosperity Bank plays a pivotal role in the Credit and Underwriting team by managing credit applications and ensuring thorough evaluation and analysis. This position involves reviewing credit reports, assembling comprehensive credit packages for syndication to third-party funding partners, and maintaining strong communication with internal departments to support loan funding processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully review credit reports and prepare detailed credit submission packets that satisfy funding partners' approval criteria.
  • Analyze credit data rigorously to identify approval or denial factors from funding sources.
  • Proactively work to resolve denial causes on credit reports and gather necessary documentation from clients to clear credit stipulations or pre-funding conditions before presenting to funders.
  • Manage communication related to credit application status with internal teams, including sales and funding departments, ensuring clarity and positivity.
  • Make informed decisions on applications from internal and dealer channels, focusing on quick turnaround, accuracy, and volume.
  • Exercise sound judgment in detecting potential risks or alerts in credit reports that may lead to denial.
  • Comply with company policies and escalate compliance issues to Credit Management when necessary.
  • Record all credit decisions accurately in the Salesforce.com system.

Candidate Requirements

  • Preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of professional experience in the finance sector.
  • Experience with syndication partnerships is advantageous.
  • Background as a loan processor, credit analyst, or similar role within finance to handle loan documentation is highly preferred.
  • Experience with credit or commercial underwriting is considered a plus.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills to manage daily responsibilities independently.

  • Ability to professionally engage with customers, vendors, lenders, and management.
