About The Role and Team
Zillow is seeking a Corporate Communications Manager to lead specialized communication strategies related to litigation and regulatory issues within the communications team. This position involves collaborating closely with Legal, Executive Leadership, and senior communications partners to ensure the company’s media messaging aligns seamlessly with its legal strategies and proactively manages public narratives related to ongoing legal matters.
This is a role requiring high autonomy and trust, without direct reports but with leadership responsibilities including driving cross-functional projects, clarifying ambiguous situations, and owning the litigation communications function.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of the litigation communications process, building both proactive and reactive communications plans for litigation, regulatory, and legal risk scenarios, ensuring consistent, confident messaging.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Legal and C-suite leadership, influencing decisions, communicating complex legal information clearly, identifying communication risks, and presenting thoughtful solutions.
- Lead collaborative efforts across Legal, Communications, Policy, and Investor Relations departments by defining goals, creating timelines, and establishing clear accountability frameworks to navigate fast-moving legal matters.
- Manage media relationships focused on legal, regulatory, and real estate industry coverage, balancing legal limitations with effective, credible engagement.
- Continuously monitor relevant legal, media, and regulatory developments and integrate this intelligence into communication strategies.
- Represent Communications during legal strategy and stakeholder discussions, advocating for the communications perspective and clarifying public narrative implications.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 9 years of experience in communications with a significant focus on media relations.
- Proven track record managing high-stakes, sensitive communications in litigation, regulatory, crisis, or legal contexts.
- Ability to collaborate directly with and influence senior leadership and legal counsel.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional projects independently.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in-house at a publicly traded company.
- Familiarity with communications surrounding securities litigation, class actions, or regulatory enforcement.
- Experience collaborating with outside counsel and understanding legal communication boundaries.

- Demonstrates deep expertise in media relations, particularly in managing sensitive legal or regulatory communications.
- Confident presence in senior leadership meetings with strong influencing skills.
- Comfortable working amid ambiguity and shifting priorities, proactively identifying and addressing needs.
- Understands intersection and potential conflicts between legal and communications strategies, navigating them thoughtfully.
- Willing to engage in all levels of detail with a "no task is too small" mindset.
- Open to giving and receiving constructive feedback and fosters collaboration across teams.

Additional Information
This role is fully remote within the United States, with employees required to work from a chosen physical location within the country (with some exceptions). The salary range varies by location, commonly between $103,500 and $174,000 annually, and includes eligibility for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance, and location. Employees will receive no less than the salary threshold for exempt employees in their state of residence.
