Role Overview
Troubadour is looking for a Copywriter to shape clear, distinctive writing across the brand. The role reports to the Creative Director and is based in the London area, with a remote-first setup that also supports hybrid working.
The company creates bags and accessories for people building the future—engineers, founders, designers, and makers. With 15 years in business, a 14x growth over the past five years, B Corp certification, the first fully circular bag collection in its category, and a Wirecutter pick for best laptop backpack, the brand places real value on quality and substance.
This person will be responsible for writing copy that can do both: strengthen the brand voice and drive commercial results. The right candidate will be comfortable creating sharp product copy, persuasive performance copy, and memorable campaign lines, while keeping the tone consistent across every touchpoint.
Brand Narrative and Voice
- Shape and evolve the brand’s writing style across all customer-facing channels.
- Maintain a unified narrative and tone throughout the brand.
- Turn product design, materials, and innovation into engaging stories that feel relevant and easy to read.
- Create messaging systems that can flex across launches, campaigns, and different channels.
- Write social content that sounds authentic to the brand.
E-commerce and Conversion Copy
- Develop persuasive copy for product pages, landing pages, and the wider website.
- Translate technical product details into clear customer benefits.
- Continuously refine writing to improve conversion, engagement, and revenue.
- Work closely with e-commerce and growth teams across the customer journey.
Performance Marketing
- Produce copy for paid social, email, and other performance-led campaigns.
- Test, adjust, and improve creative output with the growth team.
- Use a testing and learning mindset to make each iteration stronger.
- Keep brand consistency while adapting to the needs of each channel.
Campaigns and Launches
- Lead the written content for major brand moments, including product launches and seasonal campaigns.
- Develop integrated messaging ideas that work across multiple channels.
- Ensure all campaign copy is consistent, polished, and high quality.
Collaboration and Ways of Working
- Partner with design, marketing, CRM, and product teams on a cross-functional basis.
- Handle multiple projects and deadlines without losing momentum or quality.
- Help maintain a team culture built on clarity, high standards, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has between 3 and 6 years of copywriting experience, preferably within premium DTC, fashion, or lifestyle brands. Strong e-commerce and conversion optimisation experience is essential.
You should understand what actually drives performance, not just what sounds polished. Experience writing for paid social, email, and landing pages is important, as is the ability to combine brand storytelling with commercial outcomes.
The role suits someone who has already improved conversion, engagement, or revenue through copy, writes with accuracy and care, and has a strong ear for tone. You should be proactive, collaborative, and comfortable when the pace increases.
Tools and Working Environment
You’ll work with Figma, Asana or a similar project management tool, plus Google Workspace and Slack.
Troubadour is a small, curious, hands-on team that values strong standards, calm working practices, direct communication, and mutual support. The company’s headquarters are in Soho, London, next to the store on Beak Street, and it also has an office in Boston. Most of the team works remotely, and the company comes together whenever possible.
Benefits and Culture
- Unlimited annual leave.
- Remote and hybrid working options.
- Wellness allowance.
- A yearly all-company trip to a different destination each time, with all expenses covered.
Application Instructions
Applicants should send a CV, a short note explaining why the role is appealing, and a brief description of what they would contribute. Examples of work should be included, showing both brand storytelling and performance-driven copy aligned with Troubadour.
