Role Overview

Academian Inc is searching for a skilled Copy Editor/Writer to enhance the caliber of our educational materials. This position requires more than simple proofreading; it involves revising and refining content produced by Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts to boost clarity, consistency, and overall impact.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a writer's approach when copyediting—improving flow, tone, and readability while preserving content accuracy and alignment with learning goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Polish and edit content created by Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts to enhance clarity, organization, tone, and quality.
• Elevate written material while respecting the original intent, voice, and instructional objectives.
• Go beyond traditional proofreading by improving the coherence, flow, and engagement of the text.
• Maintain consistent style, terminology, and formatting standards throughout deliverables.
• Detect content gaps, redundancies, and opportunities to increase effectiveness.
• Work closely with Instructional Designers, SMEs, and project teams to fine-tune content.
• Apply editorial standards and style guides uniformly across projects.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Copy Editor, Content Editor, or Writer/Editor.
• Exceptional writing skills with the ability to refine and enhance existing content.
• Experience handling educational, instructional, or curriculum-related materials preferred.
• Excellent grasp of grammar, syntax, and style conventions.
• Ability to unify content originating from several contributors into a seamless final product.
• Strong eye for detail while maintaining an understanding of overall content goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in education, instructional design, or learning material development.
• Experience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts and instructional teams.
• Familiarity with editorial style guides such as Chicago, APA, or custom in-house standards.
