About the Role
Join EXP as a Contract Administrator within the Transportation sector, based in either Ottawa, Brampton, Markham, Hamilton, or London, Ontario. You will contribute to managing contracts on MTO and municipal civil construction projects, ensuring quality adherence and contractual compliance.
Responsibilities
- Regularly monitor construction contracts to guarantee quality control and assurance aligned with contractual commitments between EXP and clients.
- Interpret construction drawings specifically related to MTO and municipal civil engineering works.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive internal reports, correspondences, and status updates for various projects.
- Oversee project budgets, monitor expenses, payment terms, and other financial responsibilities.
- Review contractor submissions such as critical path schedules and change proposals, ensuring compliance with contract terms and advising both client and contractor appropriately.
- Negotiate changes and claims with contractors.
- Coordinate the assessment of shop drawings, requests for information, and information requests.
- Evaluate environmental and traffic control plans implemented, identifying any inconsistencies.
- Ensure the work complies fully with design standards including Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications and Drawings (OPSS/OPSD).
- Conduct site inspections as necessary, documenting daily progress and verifying contractor compliance with OPSS/OPSD and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Provide timely updates and progress reports to the Project Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience focusing on the construction phase of MTO or municipal projects.
- Proven track record as a Contract Administrator on at least two projects.
- Professional certification required: P.Eng., or OACETT C.Tech./CET with RCCA designation.
- Completion of the MTO TLT-131 Advanced Issues Resolution course post-October 2019.
- Familiarity with the MTO CMS system.
- Experience preparing various internal and external project status reports and reviewing contractor submissions for contractual compliance.
- Ability to respond properly to public complaints on behalf of the owner.
- Strong independent worker and effective team collaborator.
- Solid analytical and negotiation capabilities.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required for site visits.
- Flexibility to work overtime including weekends and evenings as needed.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual.
Compensation and Additional Details
The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 annually depending on experience, certifications, and location. This is an established opening within the organization.
