Community Engagement Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Community Engagement Manager to help develop and sustain positive, respectful partnerships between Sodexo, our client, and the communities near our remote operational sites in Western Australia. This role is crucial for fostering community collaboration, enhancing local employment and enterprise prospects, and ensuring that our activities deliver long-lasting social benefits.

The position includes regular weekly travel to remote locations, with potential for extended time onsite to support mobilisation and key operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain strong ties with site teams, Elders, Traditional Owners, and local community groups.
• Serve as a primary point of contact connecting Sodexo, clients, and various stakeholders.
• Ensure all engagement is conducted with cultural respect and inclusivity.
• Keep detailed records to support accurate reporting and compliance.
• Assist operational teams in meeting contractual goals and requirements.
• Discover opportunities for collaboration with local and Indigenous-owned enterprises.
• Assist local businesses in their growth and sustainability efforts.
• Position Sodexo as a dependable partner within the region.
• Promote employment opportunities within the local community.
• Collaborate with recruitment teams to strategize local hiring initiatives.
• Help create employment pathways that benefit community members.
• Work closely with Indigenous Affairs groups, Elders, and organisations to enhance Indigenous engagement.
• Support increased Indigenous participation through employment and supplier programs.
• Assist with culturally significant events and initiatives.
• Organize and execute community and Village events such as NAIDOC Week and other cultural celebrations, encouraging community participation.
• Identify local projects and service opportunities to promote community development.
• Collaborate internally to achieve shared objectives and prioritise local employment wherever feasible.
• Ensure contractual engagement requirements are met and recorded.
• Monitor and report on social impact and outcomes generated by engagement activities.
• Comply with organisational policies and client commitments related to community engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or related fields.
• Deep understanding of Indigenous communities and adherence to cultural protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships effectively.
• Exceptional attention to detail with proficient reporting and documentation capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly and accommodate changing operational demands.
