Job Overview

As a Cleaner reporting to the Account Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment. Responsibilities include securing and maintaining cleaning tools and equipment, and performing tasks as assigned. This position services the City of Peterborough.

Key Duties

• Cleaning common areas and washrooms thoroughly
• Collecting and disposing of garbage properly
• Sweeping, mopping floors, and vacuuming carpets
• Performing high dusting in common areas
• Cleaning windows to maintain visibility
• Operating machinery such as auto scrubbers and carpet extractors
• Snow removal and applying ice melt during winter months

Qualifications

• Positive attitude with willingness to learn
• Minimum of one year of cleaning experience
• Effective communication skills with supervisors, clients, and the public
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs
• Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
• Completion of civil servant application
• Clear criminal background check is mandatory
