Position Overview
The CAD Designer at Sy-Klone International plays a vital role in supporting the application engineering and installation efforts by producing precise technical drawings, 2D/3D models, installation schematics, and customized designs. These outputs enable seamless incorporation of Sy-Klone products into diverse machinery and applications via specialized CAD software. This position requires working closely with various stakeholders including customers, sales teams, engineers, and operations to transform application needs into accurately manufacturable and installable designs. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, adept at multiple concurrent tasks, and committed to delivering high-quality documentation that ensures customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed CAD drawings, installation layouts, schematics, and other technical documents essential for customer-specific implementations and product deployments.
- Generate precise 2D and 3D CAD models utilizing industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit.
- Develop tailored mounting solutions and product integrations that fit with various customer equipment and operating settings.
- Collaborate with application engineers, sales personnel, and clients to accurately collect requirements and devise customized installation solutions.
- Analyze customer drawings, specs, and technical details to identify installation requirements and constraints.
- Prepare comprehensive fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of materials, and installation manuals as necessary.
- Update drawings and documentation to align with new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Ensure all designs adhere to internal standards, engineering criteria, and manufacturability considerations.
- Maintain organized and current drawing archives, including revisions and design records.
- Provide technical support during installation, helping to troubleshoot design issues that arise on site.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams to solve design problems and optimize production methods.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance design workflows, documentation accuracy, and implementation processes.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects to deliver consistent, timely outputs without sacrificing quality.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related discipline preferred; candidates possessing equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in CAD design or drafting within manufacturing, industrial engineering, or technical environments.
- Advanced skills with CAD software platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
- Competency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics.
- Proven experience producing technical drawings, installation plans, assembly schematics, and fabrication documents.
- Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings, mechanical specifications, and related technical documentation.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience supporting customer-driven design customization and implementation initiatives preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with a dedication to producing precise and accurate documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills suitable for collaborating across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and client teams.
- Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Background in heavy machinery, industrial equipment, OEM, or manufacturing industries is advantageous.
- Familiarity with ERP software, product documentation management, and revision control preferred.
- Experience working in small or rapidly growing companies is a plus.
