Role Overview
The Buyer will oversee the Supply Chain operations to ensure precision and efficiency within the team. This includes negotiating competitive prices and service terms with suppliers while maintaining a smooth manufacturing workflow without excessive stock. The position requires using two ERP systems (Avante and M3) and collaborating closely with other departments to uphold excellent customer service standards.
Work Location and Requirements
This position is based entirely at the Whitstable, Kent office, requiring presence five days a week. Candidates must reside near the site and possess a valid UK driving license.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain robust relationships with suppliers to meet operational demands.
- Establish supplier agreements by negotiating prices and lead times.
- Maintain current pricing within all ERP systems.
- Support continuous improvements in Avante and M3 ERP systems.
- Manage the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to fulfill customer requirements.
- Coordinate closely with the Customer Service team to ensure effective communication with clients.
- Define and monitor supply chain KPIs and generate necessary reports.
- Collaborate with Stores to maintain optimal inventory levels aligned with business needs.
- Work alongside engineering teams on new product development projects.
- Maintain pricing contracts with current suppliers.
- Lead and manage supply chain projects as they arise.
- Identify high-risk outsourced components and explore alternative suppliers.
- Aggregate annual spend data for reporting and analysis.
- Assist the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager in recognizing and implementing process improvements.
Experience and Skills
- Extensive experience in using and understanding MRP/ERP systems.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- At least 5 years in a purchasing capacity within manufacturing or construction sectors is beneficial.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
