About St. Joseph's Foundation

The Bus Escort role is based on the route from Mitchelstown to Kilmallock, with possible collection points in Bruff, Kildorrery, or Mitchelstown. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the well-being of service users while in care transport.
  • Ensure service users are safely handed over to a responsible person at drop-off locations.
  • Supervise and support service users throughout the bus journey.
  • Maintain positive working relations with the bus driver.
  • Serve as a communication link between unit supervisors, nurses, carers, and families as required, including message and letter conveyance.
  • Remain familiar with individual disabilities, relevant care plans, and updates provided by line managers.
  • Follow all assigned duties relevant to the escort role as delegated by supervisors.
  • Remain on the bus during transit except in exceptional situations.
  • Report any concerns or incidents to the line manager promptly.
  • Promote dignified awareness of learning disabilities within the community.
  • Participate in training courses as directed by the Foundation.
