Associate Editor (Contract, Remote with Onsite Onboarding)

Position Overview

This contracting editor role starts with mandatory onsite training and orientation at the Chattanooga HQ for approximately one to two weeks, before transitioning to a predominantly remote setting (~95%), with occasional office visits as required. Candidates should reside locally within the Chattanooga metropolitan area or within a reasonable commute distance of 10-25 miles to accommodate potential last-minute in-office requirements. The position supports a professional residential services brand by handling a high volume of client-facing marketing and fulfillment materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Proofread and edit various customer communications, such as welcome and renewal letters, invoices, and policy documents, ensuring they are error-free.
• Maintain accuracy in grammar, formatting, branding, and adherence to legal and compliance language.
• Verify the presence of necessary disclaimers, state-specific requirements, and regulatory content.
• Conduct audits on materials and data tables to guarantee complete accuracy without mistakes.
• Work closely with internal teams to resolve inconsistencies and uphold brand standards.
• Keep detailed records of all updates and ensure revisions are correctly applied.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in editing or proofreading, with agency experience considered advantageous.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify errors that others may overlook.
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word.
• Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of grammar, editorial structure, and publishing standards.
• Comfortable working with regulated or compliance-heavy content.
