Role overview
This contract role in Thousand Oaks, CA supports artificial intelligence and data analytics initiatives by developing machine learning models and helping put them into practice with the right stakeholders. The work centers on turning data into usable, science-based solutions that support business priorities, especially for the Value & Access Insights team.
Key responsibilities
- Create machine learning models by combining data from multiple sources.
- Partner with people across functions and teams to move projects forward.
- Work with subject matter experts to build practical, evidence-led solutions that address business needs.
- Troubleshoot runtime failures, stalled streams, retry issues, and state-related problems.
- Comfortably work with AI agents, runtime tooling, and orchestration workflows.
- Design AI and machine learning algorithms that support strategic initiatives for the Value & Access Insights team.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on ability in Python and SQL.
- Experience with Databricks tools such as SQL Warehouse, Delta Tables, Unity Catalog, and MLflow.
- Excellent analytical thinking with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, self-start, and handle multiple tasks in a project setting.
- Good communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices and sound software engineering habits, including version control, continuous integration, and test-driven development.
Preferred skills and domain knowledge
- Exposure to RAG, vector search, and evidence-based response generation.
- Understanding of pharma value and access or market access concepts.
- Familiarity with payer coverage, reimbursement, access restrictions, and formulary terminology.
- Experience working with claims data, including Rx and Mx claims, monthly trends, and utilization measures.
- Knowledge of coverage outcomes such as approvals, denials, prior authorization, step therapy, and access barriers.
- Ability to create visualizations in Tableau or Power BI.
- Comfort working in a team-based environment where collaboration supports decision-making.
Compensation and benefits
The stated pay rate is $43.00 to $44.21 per hour. This is a non-exempt role, so overtime is paid at 1.5 times the base hourly rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week, or as required by applicable state or local law. Final pay is based on relevant skills, education, and experience.
