Job Overview

We are seeking an Associate to join the Capital Markets Data Management Office at RBC. This role focuses on providing detailed analysis and leadership in Data Governance, managing metadata and controls to ensure data quality within RBC's Capital Markets division. The position combines project participation and application support, centered around metadata management essential for enterprise data governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support for Data Governance applications, including Collibra.
  • Maintain accuracy and currency of Capital Markets Business Critical Data Elements, including stewardship, data quality, lineage, and controls used in internal and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist Capital Markets business lines and regulatory initiatives in embracing Data Governance principles through the enterprise governance platform.
  • Document and manage critical data elements, their lineage, and associated business rules.
  • Lead the data issue management process by investigating root causes, summarizing options, and recommending solutions based on operational and cost impacts.
  • Analyze current data flows and outstanding issues to ensure adequate controls are in place.
  • Develop strong relationships with business users across all levels.
  • Capture and document business requirements, design solutions, and collaborate with development teams throughout implementation.
  • Perform data analysis supporting applications and projects, including documenting business rules, data requirements, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project and development teams to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of programs and projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced expertise in Collibra Data Governance platform.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of financial services and products such as Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, and Derivatives.
  • Strong grasp of data lifecycle and governance principles.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as BCBS 239, Basel II, Basel III, Dodd Frank, FBO, and Volcker Rules.
  • Proficient with business analysis and requirements modeling tools including data flow diagrams, relational data models, and business process modeling.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for query generation and data analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Desirable: Knowledge in data modeling, data quality processes, IBM Information Governance Catalog, and Information Analyzer tools.
  • Progress towards CFA or related certifications is a plus.
