Job description
Position Overview
We invite a skilled Agriculture Specialist with a strong technical background and commitment to making an impact to join our Nature & Climate Resilience team in Delhi. This full-time role involves blending climate science with agricultural systems to enable sustainable land use, climate-resilient planning, and informed data-based decision making.
Core Duties
- Conduct detailed climate and crop suitability mapping under present and projected future climate conditions.
- Evaluate climate-related risks, including temperature fluctuations, rainfall variability, and extreme weather events, assessing their effects on agricultural production.
- Assist in crafting and promoting agricultural strategies that enhance climate resilience.
- Integrate diverse data sources such as climate model outputs, soil datasets, satellite images, and socio-economic indicators.
- Generate spatial visualizations including vulnerability maps, risk zoning, and adaptation planning materials.
- Contribute to the development and execution of regional climate action and agricultural resilience initiatives.
- Compile technical documentation, policy briefs, and project deliverables for clients.
- Liaise with government agencies (Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development), research bodies, and community stakeholders.
- Transform technical findings into clear, implementable insights for policymakers and field practitioners.
- Remain abreast of advances in climate-smart agriculture, modelling software, and resilience frameworks.
- Participate in developing new methodologies, tools, and strategic frameworks for resilience planning.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Climate Science, or related disciplines.
- Between 4 to 6 years of professional experience in agriculture, climate resilience, or associated fields.
- Deep knowledge of agricultural systems, crop science, the effects of climate change on agriculture, and skills in crop modeling and agro-climatic analyses.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Competency in data analysis, preferably using Python or R programming languages.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets effectively and distill actionable insights.
- Excellent report writing and communicative abilities.
