Assistant Financial Controller

Overview

Zachary Daniels is collaborating with a prominent international consumer company to hire an Assistant Financial Controller for their Group Finance team based in Galway. This role is a significant position within a thriving multi-entity organization operating across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. It provides extensive experience in group reporting, statutory accounting, financial controls, and systems transformation.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead finance activities related to ERP system improvements, upgrades, and digital transformation projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Finance, IT, and operations to enhance financial systems, reporting capabilities, and automation.
• Manage the Group's month-end closing process to ensure precise and timely management reports.
• Improve consolidation and intercompany accounting processes across the Group.
• Drive initiatives that enhance reporting efficiency, financial workflows, and data accuracy.
• Foster strong relationships with Tax, local finance teams, and senior leadership across the organization.
• Reinforce the Group's financial control environment by identifying risks and implementing practical improvements.
• Support preparation of consolidated annual financial statements following FRS 102 standards.
• Oversee statutory accounts of subsidiaries and ensure uniform application of accounting policies.
• Assist with adopting new accounting standards and Group policies.
• Coordinate external audits involving multiple subsidiaries and jurisdictions.
• Effectively communicate complex accounting and financial issues to both finance and non-finance personnel.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, or equivalent certification.
• Minimum two years post-qualification experience.
• Experience working in a leading accountancy firm or large multi-entity business.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, particularly with FRS 102.
• Proven background in statutory reporting and external audits.
• Skilled in consolidations and intercompany accounting processes.
• Familiarity with SAP or other major ERP systems is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Proactive attitude towards process improvements and organizational change.
