Job Overview

We are recruiting a full-time Assistant Accountant to enhance our finance team, working in close collaboration with the Group Financial Controller. This practical role emphasizes accounting functions focused on our distribution operations including monthly closing, cost and margin analysis, payroll data review, and strengthening financial controls and processes. Initially based in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, the position will move to our new headquarters in Dunshaughlin soon.

Core Responsibilities

• Record and post accounting transactions and monthly journals accurately.
• Support the Finance Team in on-time completion of monthly management accounts via Intact software.
• Prepare detailed cost analyses and explain variances effectively.
• Perform sales and margin reconciliations.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations diligently.
• Help establish and uphold strong control measures for accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany balances, control accounts, and stock management.
• Maintain and enhance internal control systems.
• Continuously improve monthly close procedures and other accounting processes to boost automation, efficiency, and precision.
• Contribute to enhancing controls to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Assist with VAT return calculations and submissions.
• Provide support for the annual audit process across multiple legal entities.
• Participate actively in the annual budgeting exercises.
• Take ownership of or contribute to other assigned accounting duties and special projects.

Candidate Requirements

• The ideal applicant is a Part-Qualified Accountant or a Qualified Accounting Technician with at least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience ideally within a comparable finance role.
• Results-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
• Capable of managing a high volume of transactions while meeting tight deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging, and demanding environment.
• Able to balance competing stakeholder needs and find positive solutions.
• Willing to question existing practices to improve workflow and effectiveness.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and completeness in financial information.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and excellent analytical skills required.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
