Accreditation Manager

Role Overview

The Accreditation Manager position is located in Chesterfield, VA, and is a full-time, onsite role within the Police Department. The salary ranges from $62,154 to $73,030 annually. The role involves overseeing the agency’s accreditation process to ensure compliance with CALEA standards, maintaining documentation, coordinating teams, and staying current with accreditation changes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the CALEA accreditation process through reviewing standards and ensuring compliance.
• Coordinate accreditation groups and propose enhancements to systems, processes, and equipment to meet accreditation requirements.
• Regularly engage with key personnel to provide updates and address accreditation needs.
• Maintain continuous communication with CALEA staff to stay informed about updates and assess their impact on operations.
• Research and disseminate relevant model policies, facilitate reviews, and distribute updated information as needed.
• Provide leadership and daily supervision to the accreditation team, including managing performance and reinforcing agency priorities.
• Attend CALEA conferences and local accreditation meetings to maintain knowledge and best practices in accreditation.
• Maintain accreditation compliance records using electronic platforms.
• Perform other duties that support successful accreditation processes.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, business or public administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ responsible experience in accreditation within a law enforcement agency; law enforcement background preferred.
• In-depth comprehension of relevant accreditation standards and law enforcement agency operations.
• Strong ability to interpret technical literature, complete tasks timely, and interact effectively with others both orally and in writing.
• Proficient in preparing and maintaining accurate reports, documents, and records.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening, FBI background check, and degree verification.
• Position requires compliance with Department of Justice’s CJIS Security Policy and successful completion of enhanced criminal background checks.
• Must be US citizen or lawful permanent resident eligible for naturalization.
• Role designated as Critical Safety Sensitive; subject to random drug and alcohol testing with strict prohibition on illegal drug use and the use of medical marijuana. Alcohol consumption during work or on premises is forbidden.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Employment is onsite within the Chesterfield County Police Department.
