A Grade Electrician - Defence & Maritime Projects

About the Role

Shadbolt Group is seeking a skilled A Grade Electrician to join their Defence & Maritime team based in Osborne, Adelaide, South Australia. This full-time position involves contributing to complex defence, industrial, and infrastructure projects through high-quality electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and fault diagnosis within a safety-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install electrical components including equipment, switchboards, cable containment systems, cable trays, conduits, and wiring systems.
• Set up power, lighting, control, and communications infrastructure effectively.
• Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and construction documents.
• Perform electrical fit-offs, terminations, and complete testing and commissioning tasks.
• Conduct fault finding and resolve electrical issues promptly.
• Maintain and complete inspection and testing documentation to ensure quality standards.
• Support project milestones, including shutdown and commissioning phases.
• Engage actively in safety sessions such as toolbox meetings and pre-start briefings.

Candidate Profile

• Hold a current South Australian A Grade Electrical Licence.
• Possess at least three years of post-apprenticeship experience in industrial, infrastructure, defence, or heavy construction projects.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of Australian electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting detailed electrical drawings and schematics.
• Proven expertise in fault-finding and electrical diagnostics.
• Dedicated to safety, quality workmanship, and professional standards.
• Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the defence industry.
• Capability to gain and maintain Defence Security Clearance at Baseline level or above.
• Licenses for Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platforms (EWP), or High Risk Work.
• Current certifications in CPR and LVR.
