Role Overview

The Work Design Lead will steer the intentional redesign of work within ACC's Longer-Term Horizon (LTH) programme, offering a unified enterprise perspective on future work, its workforce impacts, and service delivery enhancements. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture for Future Work, the role translates future operating models and technological decisions into actionable workflows, role configurations, decision-making frameworks, responsibilities, and operational practices. This position mandates collaboration across various transformation initiatives to enable ACC to make informed decisions around:

  • Determining work areas that remain human-driven
  • Identifying where technology, automation, and AI deliver maximum benefit
  • Restructuring work in alignment with technological advancements
  • Evolving roles, skillsets, and workforce needs
  • Establishing future work methodologies that best aid employees and clients

This opportunity significantly shapes how ACC provides services and promotes safety across workplaces and homes.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary ranges from NZD 138,301 to 178,978, depending on experience. ACC also offers a robust benefits package, including a favorable superannuation scheme with a 9% contribution that requires no employee contributions, plus optional life and income protection insurance.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven extensive expertise in work, organizational, operating model, or service design and enterprise transformation within large, complex entities
  • Strong comprehension of the relationships among people, processes, technology, workforce configurations, and organizational outcomes
  • Proficiency in converting enterprise strategies and future-state designs into pragmatic workforce arrangements and operating frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, digital enablement, and tech-driven transformation
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and influence capabilities, particularly interacting with senior leadership
  • Advanced systems thinking skills with an aptitude to clarify ambiguity into actionable choices and trade-offs
  • Superior written and verbal communication, adept at presenting complex recommendations to aid executive decisions
  • Leadership and practical application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within policy, systems, and organizational structures
  • An adaptable, collaborative leadership approach showcasing sound judgment, resilience, and a mindset focused on continual improvement
  • Possession of New Zealand work rights at application time is mandatory
