As a working student in Operations, you will contribute to modernizing the traditionally slow-moving existing property sector by enabling the widespread transformation of buildings using proven, ready-to-use technologies for energy-efficient upgrades.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic balancing calculations using leading software such as Trimble Nova to optimize existing hydraulic systems in office and commercial buildings.
• Provide project management assistance, supporting our seasoned engineers in daily project activities.
• Conduct funding program research, identifying suitable subsidies for projects and managing structured application and deadline tracking.
• Coordinate standardized network operator communications for photovoltaic and heat pump systems with local utilities.
• Assist in the development of an Energy Management System (EMS) dashboard to create a visual interface for energy monitoring.

Candidate Profile

• Pursuing or completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Services, Energy, Environmental, or Supply Engineering.

Why This Role Matters

The real estate sector accounts for roughly 40% of Germany's energy consumption and 36% of its CO₂ emissions—figures exceeding those of industry and agriculture combined. Over 40 million buildings are energetically outdated, and new EU regulations require commercial property owners to comply with ESG minimum standards by 2033 or face rental and value losses.

While this poses a massive challenge, technology for economically and sustainably upgrading these buildings is mature. At re-green, we implement scalable solutions that lower CO₂ emissions from commercial properties by up to 90% through installing and operating ESG-compliant energy systems—without requiring initial investments from property owners. We become their long-term providers of heat and electricity. Tenants benefit as well from reduced operating costs, improved ESG profiles, and access to electric vehicle charging stations.

Our focus is retrofitting large commercial buildings using bivalent heat pump systems to replace gas boilers, integrating rooftop photovoltaic systems, EV charging infrastructure, and supplying green electricity to decarbonize power consumption. Large commercial properties are targeted due to their significant potential for optimization.
