Waste Management Technician

Job Overview

The Waste Management Technician role involves the responsible and compliant handling, treatment, and disposal of liquid and hazardous wastes at Carnival Corporation's global destinations, specifically based in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. The technician ensures adherence to all regulatory and company safety standards to protect people, property, and the environment while promoting sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with onsite waste collection and processing activities.
• Manage hazardous materials through testing, categorization, bulking, lab packing, and preparing required shipping documentation.
• Plan, prepare, and set up waste-related events or activities as needed.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a broad range of electrical, mechanical, and heavy equipment.
• Coordinate repairs for waste management equipment and ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety attire.
• Comply with all waste disposal regulations and report any compliance or safety issues according to protocol.
• Document inspections, investigations, incidents, and daily activities through detailed reporting.
• Provide first aid assistance when necessary.
• Deliver training sessions and recommend procedural improvements for waste management processes.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors or designated personnel.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; additional education in Hospitality or related fields is advantageous.
• Technical or waste management certification is mandatory.
• Minimum two years of experience in a technical maintenance role within a hotel or similar industry preferred.
• Fluency in conversational English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physically fit to work outdoors and able to stand for extended periods.
• Excellent customer service, communication, planning, multitasking, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines and possibly work shift schedules at various destinations.
