Job Overview
The Warehouse Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse and distribution centers by managing inventory, logistics, and organization tasks to support efficient workflows.
Key Duties
- Accurately maintain and update both physical and digital inventory systems, including stock cards and ledgers.
- Perform routine physical counts of inventory to verify records and detect any inconsistencies, damages, or losses.
- Manage the safe receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods following prescribed procedures and donor requirements.
- Apply and uphold warehouse best practices such as the FIFO and FEFO stock management methods.
- Ensure commodities are handled, stacked, and stored correctly to maximize space usage while avoiding damage or contamination.
- Guarantee all stored items meet quality and storage standards set by donors and the organization.
- Implement controls to minimize spoilage, contamination, and pest problems.
- Maintain an orderly and secure filing system for all commodity-related documents and records.
- Supervise the upkeep and proper operation of warehouse equipment.
- Enforce safety and security measures including controlling warehouse access.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to facilitate timely receipt and dispatch of supplies.
- Assist commodity officers and mobilizers during distribution events.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture, or related disciplines.
- Two to three years of relevant experience in warehouse operations or inventory management, ideally within the commodities sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of commodity storage, applicable regulations, and health and safety protocols.
- Physical endurance to stand for extended periods during work hours.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Proficient in documentation and accurate record keeping.

- Competent in Microsoft 365, notably Excel for reporting and documentation purposes.
