Role Overview
The Supply Chain Planning & Procurement Manager will oversee all aspects of planning, procurement, and inventory management that guide purchasing decisions, timing of purchase orders, and stock distribution across NXTRND’s network. Collaborating closely with the Head of Supply Chain, the manager will convert sales forecasts, stock levels, supplier timelines, seasonality, and launch timelines into accurate ordering and replenishment actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly planning cycle by analyzing sales forecasts, current inventory, incoming purchase orders, and channel demands.
- Develop, update, and present procurement plans breaking down requirements by SKU, product category, supplier, and delivery timelines.
- Establish purchasing needs and execute purchase orders considering forecast demand, lead times, seasonal trends, safety stock, service standards, and working capital constraints.
- Track inventory indicators like weeks of supply to detect potential stockouts, excess or slow-moving stock, aged items, and purchasing risks.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding lead times, production schedules, minimum order quantities, capacities, and order completion timelines.
- Communicate priorities and expectations directly with factories and supply partners to ensure timely production and delivery.
- Monitor open purchase orders, address delays, and escalate risks proactively to avoid inventory shortages.
- Manage replenishment activities across third-party logistics providers, Amazon, retail, and other fulfillment centers.
- Analyze inventory locations and approve transfers between warehouses based on demand and logistics considerations.
- Lead planning efforts for product launches and seasonal campaigns, ensuring purchase and inventory readiness ahead of deadlines.
- Continuously update and optimize ERP parameters including reorder points, lead times, safety stocks, and supplier data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Finance, Ecommerce, and Operations to align forecasts, purchasing plans, launches, cash flow, and inventory goals.
- Evaluate supplier performance and address issues like delays, capacity constraints, pricing, quality, and inventory risks with factories and senior stakeholders.
- Generate and share regular reports on inventory levels, purchasing status, forecast accuracy, stock risks, aged stock, and fulfillment capacity.
- Review supply chain costs such as air freight, warehouse charges, and freight quotes, recommending approvals within given authority.
- Supervise the Supply Chain Analyst by setting priorities and ensuring timely resolution of shipment, inventory, and documentation issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve forecast accuracy, purchase processes, inventory efficiency, supplier performance, and optimize working capital utilization.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, procurement, or purchasing within a consumer products environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently handle demand and inventory planning along with procurement and replenishment responsibilities.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen ability to translate data and forecasts into practical purchasing and inventory decisions.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel including use of lookup functions, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and inventory-related analyses.
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory planning and forecasting tools, warehouse management systems (WMS), electronic data interchange (EDI), or order management platforms.
- Deep understanding of supply chain variables such as lead times, safety stock considerations, reorder thresholds, seasonality, inventory coverage, supplier capacity, and purchase order management.
- Capability to balance competing priorities including product availability, cash flow, freight costs, inventory holding costs, storage limitations, and risk of excess stock.
- Strong leadership, excellent communication, and prioritization skills suitable for managing analysts and coordinating cross-functional teams as well as external partners.
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing forecasts, inventory positions, quantities, costs, delivery timelines, freight quotations, and operational discrepancies.
- Proactive, decisive, and comfortable with taking ownership of dynamic planning and procurement functions without constant supervision.
- Preferred experience in consumer products, ecommerce, retail channels including Amazon, managing seasonal demand, and multi-location inventory networks.
Additional Information
- Job Location: Onsite at Old Port of Montreal, Quebec, Canada
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Paid time off: 4 weeks per year
- Salary Range: 80,000 to 90,000 CAD per year
