About Kitea Health
Kitea Health originated from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland, where researchers, clinicians, and engineers collaborated to innovate treatments for Hydrocephalus patients. The team developed the Kitea system, a precision-engineered medical solution created by a focused, high-performing team. Currently, Kitea operates from Future House in Parnell, a community of startups dedicated to translating laboratory innovations into global products.
Internship Overview
The summer internships provide direct, practical experience to help students build their professional capabilities while gaining insights into the healthcare technology industry. The internships foster growth through meaningful networking and skill development.

Internship Details
- Duration: 10 weeks during August to November 2026
- Location: Auckland Central, Future House
- Application Deadline: 10 August 2026
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a New Zealand tertiary institution
- Studying at NZQA Level 6 to 10 or completed studies within the last 12 months
- Academic background in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, statistics, biomedical engineering, data science, health technology, design, business, or related areas
- Legal authorization to work in New Zealand

Role Descriptions and Desired Qualifications
Clinical Data Science Intern
- Analyze clinical data gathered from patients using the Kitea System
- Develop and improve data analysis workflows
- Create visual dashboards and data presentations
- Support modelling to assess data quality and extract insights
- Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred fields: Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related analytical disciplines
Medical Device Test Development Intern
- Design and build automated test systems for precise manufacturing measurement
- Assist in developing mechanical and electrical components
- Write software for automated testing machinery
- Participate in integration, verification, and validation processes
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on implantable medical devices
Preferred fields: Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines
Manufacturing Systems Intern
- Support enhancement and optimization of manufacturing resource planning systems
- Assist with tracking materials, components, and equipment
- Conduct gap analyses to improve processes
- Ensure manufacturing systems comply with quality and regulatory standards
- Work closely with operations, quality, and engineering departments
Preferred fields: Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related
Quality & Regulatory Intern
- Assist in Quality Management System activities
- Contribute to process improvements and quality programs
- Support manufacturing documentation and process development
- Help manage risk, document control, and compliance adherence
- Gain insight into regulated medical device development
