Role Overview
This role is hands-on, pivotal to ensuring a smooth material flow through goods inward, inventory management, and production support. You'll be integral in confirming parts are received, recorded, and dispatched accurately and promptly to avoid disruption in production activities. The position offers diverse duties across goods reception, stock control, kitting, and aiding production within a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive goods and verify them against purchase orders and delivery documentation
- Identify and report any inconsistencies, damages, or quality issues
- Precisely record incoming goods into inventory systems
- Maintain stock accuracy via systematic organisation and inventory checks
- Store and arrange parts safely within the storage locations
- Pick, pack, and prepare materials for internal consumption and shipment
- Ensure all shipment paperwork is complete and correct
- Assemble and deliver parts kits aligned with production schedules
- Transport materials throughout the site to help maintain workflow
- Work alongside production teams to guarantee timely availability of required parts
- Operate counterbalance forklifts for loading, unloading, and moving stock internally
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine basic maintenance
- Guarantee safe material handling and storage practices
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and organised work environment
- Contribute to housekeeping, waste disposal, and recycling processes
- Assist with other operational duties as needed
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within operations
Success Indicators
- Accurate receipt, storage, and issuance of materials
- Production teams consistently receive appropriate parts on schedule
- Inventory records and stock levels are well maintained and reliable
- The stores area is maintained in an efficient, safe, and organised condition
- Effective collaboration between stores, purchasing, and production departments
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Experience working in stores, warehouse, or goods inward roles within engineering or manufacturing settings
- Competence in handling valuable and fragile items carefully
- Strong organisational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and function independently
- Good communication skills and team collaboration
- Basic proficiency with IT tools
- Proactive, hands-on work ethic with a positive attitude
- Physically fit for manual handling duties
- Possession of a counterbalance forklift license or willingness to obtain training
Desirable:
- Prior experience assisting production or workshop teams
- Familiarity with stock control or warehouse management systems
- Basic ability to interpret technical drawings
- Full UK driving license
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary ranging from £25000 to £29000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience
- Standard 37.5-hour workweek; production teams finish early on Fridays at 1:30pm
