About the Role
Higgins is seeking a dedicated full-time, permanent Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to join our Traffic Management team based at the Hamilton Branch. This position entails hands-on leadership of temporary traffic control activities, ensuring that road users are well informed and that work zones are safely and correctly established daily.
You will be an onsite leader actively collaborating with site crews and the public, overseeing compliance and setup of traffic control on live worksites. Although headquartered in Hamilton, this role involves working across our various depots and branches throughout the Waikato region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, manage, and dismantle temporary traffic management setups on active sites to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare, review, and amend Traffic Management Plans to align with regulatory standards and project requirements.
- Direct traffic flow using stop/go signals, signage, and traffic lights as necessary.
- Maintain vigilance for site safety, identifying hazards promptly and implementing risk mitigation measures.
- Record daily site activities, including documentation and reporting, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the public, site teams, and supervisors about traffic management activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Valid STMS Category B Practicing certification.
- NZTA TTM Worker certification along with relevant training in traffic control methods.
- At least two years of experience within roading or traffic management sectors.
- Possession of a Class 2 Driver's License.
- Preferably holds Construction Safe Tier 1 certification.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards and compliance protocols.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with confidence to engage with the public.
- Reliable, composed, and proactive attitude, willing to address issues as they arise.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster system.
