Role Overview

Our partner company seeks an experienced SQL Developer located in Australia to drive data-centric reporting solutions across varied client environments. The role blends technical SQL and database expertise with strong communication abilities to understand and fulfill client requirements efficiently. You will engage with clients directly, analyzing data structures and developing SQL solutions, ensuring smooth system integration. The position involves ownership from initial implementation through ongoing user support and promotes continuous problem-solving in a collaborative setting involving both technical and non-technical teams.

Main Responsibilities

Interact with clients and stakeholders to comprehend reporting and business needs.
Convert business requirements into robust SQL queries and reporting configurations.
Remotely connect to client systems to set up, configure, maintain, and support reporting software.
Analyze client systems to identify data sources across platforms.
Extract and interpret data from databases and applications.
Assess existing database designs and data flows to aid implementation projects.
Construct and maintain SQL objects such as views, stored procedures, functions, and tables.
Implement patches, updates, and optimize performance within SQL Server environments.
Resolve database connectivity, networking, and related technical issues.
Collaborate with client IT teams in Windows Server environments as needed.
Conduct training and deliver user guidance for effective software utilization.
Provide post-implementation support, managing projects from start to finish.

Candidate Requirements

Proven professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Advanced proficiency in SQL querying including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and diagnostics.
Skilled in creating and managing SQL views, stored procedures, and database objects.
Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data structures.
Experience working within Windows Server environments.
Familiarity with networking principles such as permissions, ports, firewalls, and DNS.
Capability to remotely access and support client infrastructure.
Analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges.
Effective communication skills including working with non-technical stakeholders.
Independent work ethic with ability to prioritize and fully own projects.
Detail-oriented, organized, and methodical troubleshooting skills.

Additional Advantages

Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial structures: nominal ledger, trial balance, sales/purchase ledgers.
Experience with financial accounting systems or ERP platforms.
Familiarity with deploying/supporting applications via IIS.
Understanding of APIs, integrations, and JSON environments.
Exposure to other SQL dialects like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Experience with other database management systems.
Basic knowledge of C# development.
