Role Overview
We are seeking full-time Solar Electricians based in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Wellington regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar power systems including panels, inverters, and related electrical components for homes and businesses. Typical daily duties comprise site evaluation, integrating systems with existing electrical frameworks, performing safety and compliance inspections, and diagnosing system performance problems. Additional responsibilities include preparing detailed documentation, collaborating with project managers and other tradespeople, advising clients on system operation and upkeep, and ensuring all work complies with regulatory standards and company policies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Solid knowledge of electrical principles and hands-on experience with electrical work, particularly in solar or renewable energy technologies.
- Proven ability to maintain and repair electrical installations, including routine checks and rectification of faults.
- Competence in troubleshooting electrical and solar power system issues, fault diagnosis, and effective problem-solving.
- Understanding of electrical engineering concepts pertinent to system design, load calculations, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Possession of a recognized electrical trade qualification and a current New Zealand electrician’s license or registration.
- Familiarity with local electrical codes, safety guidelines, and best industry practices for solar power system installation.
- Ability to work confidently at heights and outdoors while strictly following safe work protocols and using personal protective equipment.
- Good communication skills, ability to interpret technical plans and diagrams, and capacity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team including client interaction.
- Hold a valid driver's license and have the mobility to travel across project sites within the assigned regions.
- Experience with hybrid or grid-connected solar power systems and knowledge of monitoring software is advantageous.
