Software Engineer

Role Overview

This role is offered by a partner company seeking a Software Engineer located in Canada. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services that underpin secure and scalable financial digital products. The position involves full lifecycle ownership from architecture and coding to deployment and operations within a global, remote engineering environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Create, test, deploy, and support robust backend services and applications.
• Own your software components throughout their lifecycle, including continuous monitoring and enhancements.
• Develop resilient, scalable, and secure solutions catering to extensive user bases.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product managers, and business stakeholders to tackle complex technical issues.
• Make architectural decisions regarding microservices, cloud-native infrastructures, and distributed systems.
• Implement modern engineering best practices like CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
• Leverage software design patterns such as Event-Driven Architecture and Domain-Driven Design to build maintainable systems.
• Engage in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge exchange activities.
• Identify and suggest improvements to system reliability, performance, and engineering workflows.
• Contribute within business areas including wealth management, financial crime prevention, client acquisition and retention, or payment solutions.

Candidate Requirements

• Solid software engineering knowledge with proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Experience in backend development focused on building dependable software solutions.
• Basic understanding of microservices architecture, cloud-native designs, and containerization.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle covering testing, deployment, and maintenance phases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies.
• Interest in architectural paradigms such as Event-Driven Architecture and Domain-Driven Design.
• Excellent communication capabilities to work effectively in remote, distributed teams.
• A proactive attitude towards learning, experimentation, and overcoming technical challenges.
• Strong enthusiasm for technology, particularly at the convergence of traditional finance and emerging digital asset domains.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Python frameworks like Django or Flask, databases including MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, and Node.js or related technologies is beneficial.
