Role Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the Store Manager with daily store functions during your shifts. Leading the team, you will assign tasks and manage partners to ensure the Starbucks Experience shines through exceptional customer service, timely delivery, quality products, and a welcoming store atmosphere. You will embody Starbucks’ core principles and values, contributing to a workplace that employees deeply appreciate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and a commitment that reflects Starbucks’ culture, values, and mission.
- Maintain composure during busy or unusual situations to uphold store standards and inspire the shift team positively.
- Proactively observe customer and store needs by reading environmental and customer signals.
- Effectively communicate updates and needs to the Store Manager to foster an ideal "Third Place" atmosphere.
- Support newcomer training by reinforcing successful behaviors and providing encouraging, respectful coaching.
- Offer performance feedback to the Store Manager regarding partners during shifts.
- Promote a positive team spirit by alerting management of any changes in morale or work quality among partners.
- Create a learning-friendly environment through clear, timely, and respectful coaching that drives operational excellence and partner growth.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a customer-first mindset, engaging customers to identify and meet their needs.
- Build effective team relationships by understanding and addressing individual motivations and concerns.
- Manage store operations throughout your shift, including organizing opening and closing tasks.
- Adhere strictly to Starbucks’ operational policies, especially cash handling, safety, and security, to protect partners and assets.
- Ensure the shift team complies with all cash register and cash management protocols.
- Regularly check baristas’ performance during shifts to guarantee outstanding customer service delivery.
- Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Prepare quality beverages, whole bean coffee, and food items consistently, following recipe and presentation standards.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation requirements for all products.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team successes using existing tools while collaborating to develop new recognition methods.
- Leverage operational resources to foster excellence during shifts.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous customer service work in retail or food service environments.
- Capability to lead and delegate tasks effectively.
- Quick comprehension and adaptability skills.
- Strong verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with retail operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate as a team member.
