Role Overview
The Senior Payroll Officer position involves managing the daily payroll functions and stepping in to supervise the Payroll team during the Payroll Manager's absence. This role requires active involvement in learning initiatives, payroll system enhancements, team collaboration, and contributing to the communication efforts of the Payroll department. The incumbent is expected to deliver exemplary service to internal and external customers across departments.
Please be aware this role is offered as a 12-month fixed term contract with the flexibility for full-time or part-time commitments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assistance in addressing and resolving queries raised by Payroll Officers.
- Conduct reconciliations related to Annual Leave, Long Service Leave, and Sick Leave balances.
- Manage timekeeping processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation, hours, and wage rates, including data entry into PeopleSoft One Time Positive Input.
- Generate and analyze various PeopleSoft reports such as Employee Listings, Years of Service, Employee Languages, records of employees not worked for 90+ days, Leave of Absences, and Probation Expiries.
- Investigate and resolve PeopleSoft system queries, including issues with missing shifts, incorrect hourly rates, public holiday payments, overtime, back pay, leave accruals, time-in-lieu, and employee deductions.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in handling payroll or finance operations with high processing volumes.
- Demonstrated integrity combined with meticulous accuracy and an ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with various employee awards and industrial agreements is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively, showing initiative within a team setting.
