Senior Operator (DHT)

Job Purpose

The Senior Operator (DHT) is responsible for operating, monitoring, and controlling specific plant units to process, store, and export products that meet quality specifications, while adhering to Company standards and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines. The role involves maximizing plant output by efficiently managing control panels to maintain proper function and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform assigned operational tasks safely and according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Record operational incidents and discuss them with supervisors to ensure smooth plant operation.
• Oversee routine equipment inspections to detect abnormalities and coordinate necessary maintenance or repairs.
• Prepare and review plant and equipment readiness for maintenance to ensure synchronized and accurate functioning.
• Operate machinery and equipment safely and effectively following company protocols.
• Act as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies as per Facility Response Plan.
• Authorize work permits, monitor contractors’ activities, and enforce safety procedures.
• Utilize the Integrated Control System fully to enhance plant efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Supervise adjustments in operational parameters like speed, temperature, pressure, and flow during startups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
• Continuously monitor control panels, diagnose abnormal conditions, make operational adjustments, and ensure all equipment operates within set limits.
• Manage chemical usage by verifying correct types, preparing solutions, and adjusting dosing rates while complying with HSE practices.
• Operate assigned areas efficiently and safely to meet production targets without hydrocarbon loss and emission limits, ensuring proper shift handovers.
• Complete integrity and functional tests, changeover routines, and verify scheduled tasks while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Respond to plant upsets promptly to prevent escalation and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Implement and adhere to all relevant policies, systems, and procedures to meet operational goals.
• Provide on-the-job training to support competency-based training aligned with UAE Nationalization efforts.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for continuous process and procedure improvements.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and sustainability policies in accordance with international standards and ADNOC Code of Practices.
• Participate as a team member in emergency response activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work environment throughout operations.
• Contribute information for section progress reports and prepare Key Performance Indicator (KPI) checklists for management review.
• Communicate regularly with line managers, peers, internal teams, consultants, service providers, and government agencies as necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical Diploma in a relevant field or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in a relevant discipline.
• A minimum of six years' experience in plant operations within a large-scale industrial setting in the Oil and Gas sector.
• Professional certifications as applicable.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work is primarily conducted in an air-conditioned environment.
• Occasional site visits may expose the operator to heat, humidity, and dust.
• Physical effort required is minimal.
